It’s Nice That
A broad-spectrum creative platform covering graphic design, illustration, photography, art, and culture, with editorial features, career advice, and industry insights.
Pros
- Genuinely broad coverage
- Strong editorial quality
- Free access to most content
Cons
- Heavy UK/European editorial bias
- Archive content locked behind paywall
It’s Nice That has been the creative internet’s go-to since 2007, and for good reason. Based in London, the platform reaches over 8 million people a month and covers the full spectrum: graphic design, illustration, photography, animation, branding, typography, fashion, film, architecture, and more. Nothing is siloed. That’s the whole point, and it’s what keeps you coming back.
What separates It’s Nice That from a straight-up portfolio showcase is the editorial muscle behind it. You get deep-dive features on working practitioners, opinion columns from people actually in the industry, and career advice through their “Creative Career Conundrums” series. Their visual research arm, Insights, works with brands like Nike, Google, and Spotify on cultural trend analysis. Their long-running live events series, Nicer Tuesdays, draws serious creative crowds in London and beyond. The breadth of disciplines covered means you can land on a typography article and leave having read something about a documentary photographer in Berlin. That cross-pollination is where the real value lives.
It’s Nice That does have a distinctly UK and European editorial lens, which can feel like a blind spot if you’re based in the US and want more coverage of North American creative scenes. The free content is substantial, but a paid “Extra Nice” subscription is required to unlock deeper archive access and search, which feels like it should just be open. And while the newsletter is genuinely good, the sheer volume of content the platform publishes means it’s easy to feel like you’re always playing catch-up. Worth it though.
