Magnific
Formerly Freepik, an AI creative platform combining 250M+ stock assets with image generation, 4K video, AI upscaling, and a real-time collaborative workspace, all in one subscription.
Pros
- Decent AI upscaling with real creative control
- Stock assets, AI generation, and video tools all in one place
- 40-plus AI models
Cons
- The generous free tier from the Freepik days is essentially gone
- Significant overlap with Adobe CC makes dual-subscribing hard to justify
- Credits expire monthly with no rollover
Magnific, formerly Freepik, has gone through a serious transformation. What used to be a solid stock asset library has rebuilt itself into a full AI creative platform, and the gap between what it was and what it is now is significant. The stock library is still there, all 250 million-plus photos, vectors, icons, mockups, and templates, but it’s now one piece of a much bigger system that includes AI image generation, 4K video generation with audio, industry-leading upscaling, 3D tools, and a real-time collaborative workspace.
The upscaling engine is where Magnific genuinely stands out. It doesn’t just interpolate pixels like most upscalers. It reconstructs images with new texture, depth, and detail using creative controls like Creativity, HDR, and Resemblance sliders, giving you real input over the output rather than a black-box result. For anyone working with AI-generated imagery or legacy assets that need a resolution bump, this is the tool that the rest of the market is trying to catch up to. The platform also gives you access to 40-plus AI models in one environment, so you’re not locked into a single vendor’s aesthetic or output quality.
If you’re already on Adobe Creative Cloud, the honest answer is that a lot of this overlaps with tools you already have. Firefly handles image generation, Photoshop has its own upscaling, and the stock library situation is covered. Where Magnific might still earn a place in your workflow is the upscaling quality, which sits above what Photoshop’s native tools produce, and the model variety if you’re working across multiple AI outputs. But if you’re not regularly generating AI imagery that needs a resolution boost, the case for adding another subscription gets thin fast. For creatives outside the Adobe ecosystem, the value proposition is considerably stronger.
