Pigment by ShapeFactory is an interesting tool for anyone in need of some color palette inspiration. It profiles two-color palettes with four shades per color, giving you a solid starting point. If you’re ever stuck on what colors to use, this tool offers a helpful starting point.
The tool lets you tweak the pigment and lighting of all listed palettes. Once you select a palette, you can easily identify the HEX, RGB, and matching Pantone colors. You can also favorite color palettes for quick access later, which is pretty handy. However, the functionality is somewhat limited when it comes to making minor modifications to selected colors. There’s also a search function that pulls Unsplash photos, but it’s a bit hit or miss and can’t search certain HEX values.
While Pigment is interesting for finding inspiration and starting a color palette, it’s not the best tool for building a full brand or project color palette. If you’re looking for something quick and simple to kickstart your creative process, Pigment is worth considering.
